Isn't it funny how we teach our kids to say "thank you" and "please", and show them how to share, but we never have to teach them to say "no" or "mine"? From infancy, we're selfish in nature and as we grow and mature, we have to learn to think of others before ourselves.
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. - Philippians 1:1-4It's not always easy to meet the needs of others before your own, but Jesus tells us that the first will be last and the last will be first at the end of this life. Of course, women often take care of their husband and kid's NEEDS first, but what about their WISHES? What about a friend, neighbor, or co-worker? How about the casual acquaintance at the bank or store? What can you do for someone today to put their needs and wishes above yours?
